Yes, a Sports / Deep Tissue is not always relaxing. The massages aren't a run-of-the-mill spa treatments and can consist of some heavy-duty manipulation techniques, including deep-tissue work and stretching.
But if it's well done you only can profit of it!
The pressure must be adapted to each individual. Excessive pressure on the muscles can be counterproductive. Communication during the massage is important. The client must inform the masseur if a trigger point hurts to much when pushing, so the massage therapist can adjust the pressure. Very important! Only go to massage therapists if you are sure that they are properly trained and have work experience!
